When you feel you're losing your cool with a child, it's best to take time to utilize other resources, such as the counselor or even the principal. You can also reach out to these sources and ask for advice. It's best to to try and talk to another adult and get advice, cool down and see what they think too. Putting the child in a time-out for a period of time can also give you a bit of time to chill out and think about ways to help the child, but it's not intended to be a place you'd leave them long-term.
