Children often signal they need help when they disconnect and begin using "off tract behaviors" such as: hitting, biting, or hiding under a table. This behavior is signaling that they are hurting inside and their sense of connection is broken. They need our help to stop and reconnect.

Children signal they need help with something they may not be able to define by unusual clinginess, whining, tantrums, crying, withdrawing and hiding.

Children are usually very physical or verbal about needing help. This can come in many different forms such as showing frustration, crying, throwing, hitting, or even hiding.
