A disconnection between an individual and the environment is easy to break both by small means: weather, amount of sleep, hunger/over-eating, general attitude and by larger means: family problems (divorce, arguing at home, violence), lack of stability in living condition, lack of social friends or trusted people to talk to during a crisis, teachers who act disinterested, use harsh language or physically harming techniques to punish children, etc. This is especially true for children who are in a stage of development where social comfort and stability are most important; leaving them vulnerable to disconnect without the proper nurturing of their emotional growth.
