Discussion 1.3 Importance of Supporting Families

Families are our teammates in ensuring the healthy development of their child. If we cannot support their decisions, we have to work against our own teammates, and that is counter productive. Children will spend a lot of time with their families outside of the child care center and they are constantly developing. We should help the parents understand what our goals are for their children to help them support the learning outside of the classroom.

Supporting families is importing because it helps create a welcoming environment and allows the families to feel that we respect and acknowledge their cultural beliefs.
