The most common illness we see are colds (coughing, sneezing, fatigue) If they're not running a fever and can participate in activities we have tissues, lots of hand washing, plenty of water throughout the day. If they are running a fever and are not feeling well enough to participate in planned activities, we have them rest away from the other children and call to have the parent pick them up. Stomach bugs (Vomiting) Help the child clean up and get them settled away from the other children. Call for the parent to pick up.
The most common injury is scraped knees. Wash the area and apply a Band-Aid.

When children have a stomach bug or flu, the only thing to do is call the parents and send the child home, so other children will not be infected, because unlike the seasonal flu, the stomach flu or bug there are several viruses that cause the intestines to become inflamed, which is commonly caused by the norovirus. And with children the norovirus can be spread quickly and easily through day cares, preschools while at play time, meal time, or just sharing spaces. The symptoms usually last 1 to 3 days, and since the stomach flu is a virus and not a bacterial infection, it has to get better on its own, so keeping children home is the best thing to do.
