Confidentiality is important because families need to feel that their child is being cared for by professionals. Not maintaining confidentiality could lead to legal actions being taken against you or the center.

Confidentiality is important because it establishes trust between the professional and families, providing security for this professional relationship. Moreover, confidentiality is important because families can feel safe that relevant information about their child’s development won’t be shared with other families, which could negatively impact the child and his or her family. The possible outcomes for not maintaining confidentiality are that families would not trust and feel safe towards the childcare facilities. Furthermore, families also may use lawsuits in the absence of confidentiality.

Confidentiality should never be broken not only because it's against the law but it could damage the reputation of your facility and you could lose the trust in parents and families

Confidentiality is very important because it puts trust between the parent and the daycare provider. Parents know that their child's information will not be shared with other people. Breaking confidentiality is against the law and legal actions are against the person.

It is important to protect the families we are caring for and keep their information safe as well as to protect the company and its operation. Legal action could be taken against a facility or individual involved with breaking confidentiality.

According to confidentiality rules in the WAC (#170-296A-2025), the following must occur. Also, it's just the decent thing to do, treat others' personal information as you would like yours to be treated. (1) The licensee must maintain records for all children in a confidential manner. (2) Each enrolled child's health record must be available to staff when needed for medical administration or emergencies. (3) A child's parent or guardian must be allowed access to all records for their child.

Why is confidentiality important? What could be possible outcomes for not maintaining confidentiality?
Confidentiality is important for families to gain trust within the development of your child and also because tp protect the sensitive information that is gathered while working with the family and child. The company could be at risk if information is shared that was not permitted to share and by law it is prohibited to share personal information gathered. If confidentiality is not maintained it can result in lawsuits, jail time and also loss of clients.
