In early childhood education programs, mission statements carry great meaning and are an important part of the program. It is important that all the stakeholders in the early learning environment have knowledge of and adhere to the program's mission.

Staff and directors are responsible for sharing their mission statement with children and families. The mission statement should be accessible and printed so that families can easily view it.

A mission statement tells families why you do what you do. It should be displayed.

In a early learning environment the mission statement demonstrates the daycares moral ethics and how the daycare is run. It is important that the staff understand and has a copy of the statement for themselves and any parents who would like a copy. When the staff is well versed on the mission statement they can break it down to better explain to the families and the staff will know what is expected of them as well.

I think that sharing the mission statement can be very helpful as they will know the goal of the daycare/room. This can also guide individualized care as it gives a stepping stone to build off of.
