finding creative ways to serve healthy choice foods can be hard with younger kids, trying new things can be hard for kids. my son was a very visual eater, if it looked funny he would refuse to touch it, usually after he tried one bite he would clean his plate but he was stubborn, as his mother i could reasure him to try it and that he would like it but at a center it would be harder, im not their parent, i dont have the same influence.

Children often do no enjoy nutritious food, it is also our job to provide a variety of food over a course of weeks. Food also needs to be fun for the children

Sometimes the children absolutely hate the food and won’t eat it. Then they are hungry and we don’t serve a different snack.

One of the challenges are that if children will like it, and that food has to be thrown away.

Some challenges of providing children with nutritious foods at school include: overcoming children's dislike of some vegetables and desire for favorite foods such as pizza; unhealthy habits instilled in children at home; serving vegetables and fruits in a creative way; and having access to fresh vegetables and fruits despite the storing necessities.

One of many challenges to providing nutritious snacks to children is the nutrition they're already receiving being generally unaccounted for, aside from within the program's meal plan. Nutrients not found in many foods should be provided in snacks to ensure they're provided at all.

It can be difficult if children are unsure of new foods or are only comfortable eating familiar foods of one type like crackers. One way to encourage exploring new foods is to model excitement around these foods and to praise the children who try new things even if they decide they dont care for it. In my class we try to avoid labeling certain foods as yucky or gross and i instead encourage them to taste them before deciding if they like it or not.

The challenges are making sure that there are a variety of nutritious foods that follow the food pyramid because the children need a variety of foods to eat in order to grow but sometimes that can be difficult if the food order hasn't arrived for that day yet and you are missing a visual part of your menu and have to substitute.
