If I were writing guidance policies, I would want them to talk specifically about positive responses and how they are used in our program, and what kind of adult responses are not allowed. As a a parent, knowing how my child is guided throughout the day allows me to partner with my center by using the same or similar guidance policies at my home.

I would put in lots of example scenarios with a list of proper questions and responses. Having those things really are an asset.

I think I would write down some examples of my experiences with children.

I would want the guidance policies to reinforce our facility's goals and values as well as give examples of our policies in practice. This way, parents are better able to understand why are policies are what they are.

I would want our guidance policies to give examples of how an adult should respond to different kinds of potential behavioral issues.

If I were to write guidance policies I would make sure that positive reinforcement would be one of the first things on the list because children crave a positive influence in their lives. I would make sure that redirection would be on the list because sometimes a different toy or activity makes all the difference and I make sure to include making sure to talk to the children in a respectful manner so that the child would feel more comfortable with that caregiver.

If I were to write Guidance Policies, I would write about each parenting style and what the impact of that style is. I would also highlight the style of Authoritative Parenting as well as collaboration with parents. There would be information about how to address emotions while still correcting behavior.
