As a teacher, my practicing good hygiene and germ-stopping practices, my teaching children the same practices, and my being alert to the state of each child's health means that I can prevent myself and children from ingesting or otherwise taking in many of the germs that contribute to disease. When reasonable to do so, sending truly sick children home is a part of this, so that they can get adequate rest and care and so that they do not spread sickness.
