Discussion 3.1 Safety Standards for Licensure

Some safety standards required include making sure that children are protected from hazards such as:
- burns
- drowning
- falls
- objects falling onto children, injuring them

Also, you need to make sure injuries are preventable by doing some of the following:
- providing hand rails on stairs, steps, ramps
- shield light bulbs/tubes
- don't use portable heaters
- monitor exit/entrance doors to make sure children cannot simply leave the building; these doors cannot be locked in case of an emergency evacuation

Make sure that you are following all regulations to prevent injury such as falls, burns, making sure toys are not broken and having emergency preparedness supplies and procedures up to date.
