first report to director or boss your suspisions, they will help determine if this is actually what we think it is and determine the best way to contact cps and authorities. make sure you have all information written down and recorded properly before making full report to cps

To follow the state laws on child abuse one needs to understand and know the laws in the beginning. It is always best to report or discuss any potential risks of child abuse or if you see anything that seems out of the ordinary.

If you see any bruises or neglection you reported to CPS right away do not try to interview the child, CPS will interview both of them.

To follow state laws on child abuse childcare providers must be familiar with their role as a mandatory reporter. Caregivers must understand the appropriate steps to take if their is suspicion of child abuse, such as notifying the appropriate authorities and protecting the child.

As childcare providers we are mandated reporters which means that we are obligated to report any instances of suspected maltreatment. It is important to document everything and to follow the procedures put in place at your center. At my center our director is the one responsible for making reports to CPS, I am responsible for documentation and observation.

We are mandated reporters and so when we see abnormal abrasions on the child's body, lose of significant weight, or notice that the child is acting unusually shy or scared we are required to document those instances.
