To engage children in active, meaningful learning it is important that you:
Foster positive self-identity and a sense of emotional well-being. Develop social skills and knowledge. Encourage children to think critically, reasons, question and experiment. Enhance physical development and skills. Encourage and demonstrate sound health, safety, and nutritional practice. Encourage creative expression, representation and appreciation for the arts. Develop a sense of appreciation for the natural environment. Ensure the materials and practices of your program reflect the backgrounds and current practices of the children and families enrolled. Respect and celebrate cultural diversity.

Finding materials that are appropriate to age and ability that are both safe and engaging would be important along with fostering their sense of Independence, IE. being able to put away and instill rituals to en grain the habits.

I would provide materials and activities that reflect things the child is used to seeing but also activities that will help them learn new things and help their development.

Different materials and activities that are age and developmentally appropriate for children should be accessible. Additionally, I would provide materials of different textures, shapes and weights for children to explore and learn from. The materials and activities provided should work on developing different skills. The materials should be rotated in and out the classroom to maintain interest and provide variety.

Selecting appropriate classroom materials ... What types of materials, equipment and activities should I provide for the children and how do I determine if it is developmentally appropriate?
Materials, equipment and activities I select for children should be safe and accessible to all students. A way to ensure safety and accessibility materials should be age appropriate as well as relatable to students. A way to determine that the materials and activities being used are developmentally appropriate is by first seeking and finding understanding on students individually so one is able to provide all ways of learning and also being sure you have provided more than enough materials/equipment for all.

I will want to use materials that reflect the backgrounds and current practices of children and families enrolled. It is important to use materials that help to encourage children to think critically, question and experiment. I can determine if it is developmentally appropriate by observing.

If the children are not engaged with or seem board with the activities in the classroom, it may be time to switch it up, introduce some new work. Its also important to have work that reenforces the lessons taught. Through observation you can know if the work is appropriate for the children.

What types of materials, equipment and activities should I provide for the children and how do I determine if it is developmentally appropriate? I should provide equipment that is age appropriate and materials that are engaging and safe. I should provide activities that are meaningful, creative, intelligent and age appropriate as well. To do this i need to make sure i assess the development of the children and range the activities so that all the children can participate and learn.

I should provide materials that are safe, interesting and relevant to the interests of the children. Activities will be based on things that children can observe like the seasons. I will decide appropriateness by observing.
