One effective way to encourage proper sleep for children is to discuss strategies for maximizing sleep with parents. At your center, providing a structured routine with naps scheduled at the same time every day will help. If you prepare a child to expect the naps, have a before nap routine to calm them down, and have an after nap routine to help them wake up well, you will help children to get the sleep their bodies need to grow.

being in the infant room can be hard when it comes to sleeping, we can usually help them by getting three kiddos down at the same time, usually oldest first as the tend to sleep longest, what can also make it difficult is when the babies sleep differently at home than they are allowed at the center. back sleeping is the best and safest but that isnt usually how most parents approach sleeping arrangements. as a parent my son slept on his stomach as i thought since he spit up alot in his sleep that tummy sleeping would help keep him from drowning in his spit up. i now know thats not the case. but also as a parent i also just really wanted to sleep. my son always slept longer on his tummy than any other position. we dont allow blankets in the beds at my center, but they can use sleep sacks. and ive noticed most of our kids we use the sleep sacks on sleep longer and are more rested when they wake.

By having a certain time dedicated to nap time children will follow through with a routine so they will get sleepy around the same time every day, allowing them to get the rest they need.

At my cwnter we make kids rest on mats for at least 30 minutes. If they do not fall asleep then they are allowed to do a quiet activity in the other room.

Well for better sleep people're advised to take a relaxing bath , use natural cosmetics like Soap & Melt Goat's Milk or sulfate free schampoos, listen to classical music and fire aroma candles..

I dim the lights, put on a noise machine and music, and rub backs while I sing.

The ways I encourage sleep at the childcare I work at is by making sure that the children eat their lunch at a suitable time that allows for a extended nap time. I also make sure that I make the environment peaceful by playing lullabies and darkening the windows. Sleep it very important to the success of the children in my care.

This is an issue best discussed with the parents because their sleep happens at home. We have a nap room at our facility if parents request that their kids take a nap during the school day. They are given 2.5 hours.

talk with the parent when they bring the child in the center and talk about nap time and see how the child sleeps and home and see if you and the parent can work together on a plan for the child to get a good night sleep
